Education and Training

Wilma Schumann® Skin Care is committed to the process of education as a means of promoting quality, and professionalism in the esthetics industry. Our company invests close to 22 percent of its revenues towards education, and training. We offer seminars throughout the U.S., and other countries in subjects ranging from specific line information to courses in esthetics business, OSHA compliance, marketing, and management. At Wilma Schumann® Skin Care we believe that the success of our industry depends on the expertise of all skin care professionals.

In 2000, our company opened the doors of the Wilma Schumann® Skin Care Institute headed by our Vice-President Barbara Schumann-Ortega. Since then, the Institute has trained hundreds of skin care professionals, and has received accreditation from the State of Florida as an approved continuing education provider. Today, the Institute is responsible for bi-weekly seminars at our Corporate Facilities in Miami, FL. We also provide seminars, courses, and trainings occurring several times a year in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver B.C., Dallas, Chicago, and Boston.

Our team of educators, and trainers are often invited to participate in the leading industry conferences as guest speakers. Wilma Schumann, and Barbara Schumann-Ortega are recognized leaders in the field of esthetics, and often write feature articles for the leading magazines in the industry such as Les Nouvelles Esthetics, Day Spa, Dermascope, Skin Inc., and others.

 

Target, Tailor, and Treat ® represents our educational philosophy. Wilma Schumann® Skin Care believes that all skin care professionals should evolve from skin care technicians into true skin care experts, and therefore, need to implement a simple, flexible, and effective strategy when treating skin conditions. Target the Need, Tailor the Treatment, and Treat the Condition summarizes this strategy, and provides the skin care professional with the power to succeed.

Target, Tailor, and Treat ® takes full advantage of the modular feature of our professional line, and further enhances the esthetician’s ability to expertly manipulate all items of our line to create customized, and effective treatments every time.

Our commitment to education, and training includes the best training materials, videos, protocols, instructions, programs, etc., available to the esthetician. All skin care professionals receive full training, and those that purchase one of our Partner’s Club Professional Package receives full, in person, training at their location or at the Wilma Schumann® Skin Care Institute in Miami, Florida. All aspects of the line are discussed during the training.

We also train our clients on how to run a successful clinic with courses such as the Business of Beauty, Elegant Retailing, and Marketing, and Management among others. No product or package is sold without ensuring that education, and training are part of the transaction.

List of courses, and seminars being offered:

Skin Analysis
The fundamental step to skin care is Skin Analysis. Learn the biology of healthy skin, its most common deviations and explore the strategies needed for decision-making. This seminar will first review details on how complexions deviate from the definition of healthy skin. You will also learn how to assemble a customized skin care strategy with focus on how to execute this strategy.

Putting an End to Irritated Skin (Over-processed Skin)
There has been a clear increase in hypersensitive, irritated and rosacea-prone skin in the last two years. Some experts argue that the latest laser and aggressive chemical peels may have contributed to this increase. In fact, about 30 million of North Americans now complain of experiencing theses conditions. Learn how you can effectively target conditions where irritation is the root. Offer your existing and future clients relief from hypersensitive, irritated and rosacea-prone skin. This hands-on seminar will teach you the specialized massage techniques and product usage required to effect positive change during the treatment and at home.

Basic and Advanced Training
This comprehensive 2-day training workshop is designed to teach the necessary techniques to become a professional skin therapist. The workshop curriculum covers a Basic Training geared towards licensed estheticians focusing on the understanding of the Wilma Schumann products and philosophy, analyzing skin conditions, innovative treatments, and European facial techniques. The Advanced Training is a follow up focused on Signature Treatments, a review of treatment masks, and customized skin care.

Advanced Massage Techniques
5 hrs. Workshop/Hands-On

Great massages have their roots in both the sciences and the arts. Although there are many styles, Wilma Schumann Skin Care has selected the most effective techniques and has combined them in three distinct strategies; Stimulation, Drainage and Lifting. Learn how the correct massage technique can help you create an unforgettable experience for your client and improve their results.

This class will review facial structures and systems, theory of contact and each of the massage strategies will be taught in a step-by-step hands-on format.

Clinical Treatments the Deliver Results 5 hrs. Workshop/Hands-On

Truly great facials are about Results. The pleasant experience and surroundings play an important part but are not the main elements of a successful facial. All great Estheticians understand this balance. Come learn what “Clinical “really means for products, therapies and protocols. Learn how to incorporate them into your existing practice or how to build them from scratch into your practice. This class will focus on the products, technologies, cutting edge therapies, effective protocol adjustments and how to build Client Retention. The Wilma Schumann Skin Care team is dedicated to helping you make the leap to becoming a Great Esthetician.
